Greetings! Welcome to Carver Kindergarten, and welcome to pre-k! I understand that some of you are excited about this day, and some of you are not so much. It's ok! Those are both perfectly normal ways to feel. I'm in my 13th year of teaching, but can't predict how I will feel the day my son starts school, either. I promise to care for your children this year, and to teach them things they will need to succeed in the coming years, as well as in life. Pre-k is the foundation for a successful school experience through high school. I promise to communicate with you throughout the year, and to be your partner in your child's education.
I ask for you to be my partner, as well. Please let me know if there are changes at home (you don't have to give details, just let me know there is a change). These things can affect the ways your child behaves and learns. Also, please do your best to have your child at school every day. Without regular attendance it is difficult to succeed. So much of what we do at this age involves group learning. There is no "make up" activities you can do at home for this.
I am looking forward to an exciting and successful year! Please feel free to call me or email me with any questions. (512)398-0090 [email protected]

Hi! This week has been much better than last week. I know we will only improve in the weeks to come. Tomorrow (Friday) I will be absent. I have a wonderful sub coming in, but you might talk to your kids about it. I've prepared them in class, but reminders never hurt. Next week we will be studying red and yellow. A note went home in the folder, but please have your child wear red on Wednesday and yellow on Friday. Thank you! Have a wonderful weekend!

This week was wonderful! Our class is learning so much! Thank you for checking folders and doing homework with your child. It makes such a difference when they know that you are excited about their learning, too. Next week, we will be studying the letter Bb, the color blue, and the color orange. Please have your child wear blue on Tuesday and orange on Thursday. Wednesday will be a special Freedom Day celebration by the flagpole at 10:20. If they'd like, your child may wear red, white, and blue on that day to show their spirit. Have a great weekend!

Wow, what a difference from the beginning of the year! Our friends are learning so much! Besides colors, letters, and shapes, we are learning to be good friends and take care of each other. Please remind each other to use nice manners and say "good friend words" at home, as well. If they hear it every where, they do it every where! Have a wonderful weekend!
